Welcome to my blog and thanks for coming to read my first post. Growing your social media can be hard, you can post everyday and still not see the engagement you want. So many people struggle with this and that’s why I wanted to give you this free guide to growing your social media.
Along with posting consistently, it’s just as important to make sure you’re sharing quality content. What’s worked best for me is creating content around topics I’m genuinely passionate about. When I started posting educational content, I saw real growth in my social media.
Coming up with ideas can feel hard, so I keep a running list in the app Notion where I write down content ideas or captions as soon as inspiration hits because sometimes the best ideas come when you’re away from home. I like writing the caption right away, while the passion and message are fresh.
I also take inspiration from other creatives. I save posts and videos I love into folders on TikTok and Instagram so I can revisit them later.
Don’t be afraid to be open about what you care about. When you share what you’re passionate about, you naturally attract like-minded people (your target audience.)
My favorite tip for growing your social media is simply being educational. People value creatives who don’t gatekeep and who truly believe that everyone has a seat at the table.
I don’t share educational content just because it “looks good” for my brand, I do it because I genuinely have a passion for teaching and helping others grow. If you feel that same pull, don’t be afraid to share what you know.
Even if you’re a beginner, remember this: someone out there is an even more of a beginner and can still learn from you.
And here’s something important, I’ve had people follow me who couldn’t care less about learning photo or video, and they still ended up booking shoots with me because they connected with my mindset. When you lead with education and authenticity, you reach far more people than just those who want to learn.
Making shareable content is probably the best advice I can give you. I’m known for pairing meaningful quotes with my western lifestyle and livestock photos, and I can confidently say that over 10,000 people have shared my quote posts.
People also love to share my educational posts or content where I’m writing about something I’m truly passionate about. When something resonates, people naturally want to pass it along whether that’s to their Instagram story or over on Facebook.
Every time someone shares your content, it puts your work in front of an entirely new audience. That kind of organic reach is incredibly powerful and something you can’t force, you earn it by creating content people feel connected to.
Reposting older content is always helpful too, you will be gaining new followers that haven’t seen your old post. I really like being able to take my older content and turn it in to something different. For example, the majority of my quote post photos are older photos I’ve shared and now I’m just adding quotes to them.
Posting on different social media platforms has really been beneficial for me because I’ve noticed a ton of my followers on TikTok have also followed me on Instagram. TikTok is the platform that I have grown the fastest on, I gained over 40K followers in one year. TikTok and Instagram reels are the reason I started getting into video.

My first tip for growing your social media is figuring out the best time for you to post.
You can do this by paying attention to your analytics and seeing when your followers are most active. I also recommend testing different times of day and tracking which posts get the most engagement.
For me, posting between 5:30–8:00 PM consistently brings the most engagement. When deciding when to post, I think about what people are likely doing at that time—scrolling on a lunch break around noon, or winding down after work around 5 PM.
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer, so experiment, pay attention, and build a schedule that works for your audience.

My second tip for growing your social media is consistency. Ideally, posting every day is best—but if that’s not realistic, aim for at least 4 times a week. The more consistently you show up in people’s feeds, the more familiar and engaged they’ll become with your content.
I know this can feel overwhelming, which is why I recommend setting aside time once a week to batch-create and schedule your posts. Planning ahead takes the pressure off and helps you stay consistent.
I personally use Meta Business Suite, but Hootsuite is another great option for scheduling and managing your content.
